About Allen Mireles
Who am I? Well, I’ve been called one of the “25 Very Smart Business Women to Follow on Twitter” and one of the “20 Social Media Divas You Should Be Following”. I am a marketing public relations and social media consultant, strategist, writer, and public speaker.
I am principal of Allen Mireles Consulting, a marketing public relations and social media consultancy based outside of Toledo, Ohio, and founded in 1993 as Allen Mireles Marketing Communications. We work with clients from the manufacturing, healthcare, healthcare IT, education and professional services.
I can (and will) talk your ear off about the wonders of, and practical applications for, digital and social media in today’s global marketplace. I’m a wordsmith and idea generator. I’m fascinated with technology and what’s coming next. I’m intrigued with what still works today and what may work tomorrow.
I combine more than 25 years of experience in traditional marketing and public relations with social media expertise, practicality, and humor to help my clients understand how to use marketing public relations with digital and social media to meet business objectives. I’m also proficient in Spanish and affectionately known as “Whatnot” by many of my social media colleagues.
In addition to my work with Allen Mireles Consulting, my experience includes roles in both public relations and advertising agencies, on-air work in radio and television, fundraising, editing, and writing.
I am a member of Dell Computer’s inaugural Consumer Advisory Panel (DellCAP), a founding member of Social Media Breakfast Toledo, a member of the Social Media Club, the Rotary Club of Toledo and the NW Ohio Chapter of PRSA. I also am a guest lecturer at the University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University and Lourdes College.
I am an experienced public speaker. I have spoken at numerous conferences including Chicago Counts!, Kids in Need Foundation, Exploring Social Media Business Summit with Jason Falls, The NW Ohio Prevention Conference, the Ohio Trucking Association’s Annual Conference, Social Media Breakfast Toledo, PRSA, PRSSA, University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University and Lourdes College. I have also served as a subject matter expert for Toledo area media in print and broadcast.
I have been a contributor to the following marketing, public relations, and social media blogs including:
- Integrated Marketing & PR Best Practices Blog – Vocus/Cision
- Breezy Hill Marketing
- V3 Integrated Marketing Blog
- Social Media Today
- The Social Customer
- Project Eve
- Spin Sucks
Raised on the East Coast, my background includes marketing and public relations, on-air radio and television broadcasting and fundraising. I burst on the scene in the Toledo area in 1986 as the director of the NW Ohio and SE Michigan office of the National “Hands Across America” fundraiser, which generated thousands of dollars for NW Ohio non-profits.
I also was responsible for bringing Ohio’s first major social media and online marketing conference, the inaugural “Exploring Social Media Business Summit,” with social media A-lister, Jason Falls, to Toledo in 2011. I cheerfully served as both local coordinator and presenter on the topic of the importance of social media strategy.
A proud mother of two grown sons, I live outside of Toledo, Ohio, with my husband Jesse, and rescue pup Arlo—and never get enough time in the garden.
